The Barred Rock (Plymouth Rock) chicken is one of the all-time, popular favorites in the U.S. They can't be beat for steady, reliable chickens.

This Heritage Breed was developed in New England in the early 1800's by crossing Dominiques and Black Javas. Since then, the breed has spread to every part of the U.S., and is an ideal, American chicken. This breed of chickens is often referred to as a Plymouth Rock, but that title actually refers to the entire breed, not just the Barred variety. Other varieties include BuffPartridgeSilver Penciled and White

These hardy, dual-purpose chickens are known as prolific brown egg layers, and the hens are not discouraged by cold weather. At maturity they are solid and plump with yellow skin, which makes them a beautiful, heavy roasting fowl.

Our strain has the desired narrow, clean, barring on its feathering . They are long, broad, and deep-bodied and are bred for strength and vitality. Baby chicks are dark gray to black, with some white patches on their head and body.

Brown Leghorn chickens are very athletic, mature early, are hardy, non-sitters and lay very nice large/X large white eggs.

Leghorns are good layers of white eggs, laying an average of 280 per year and sometimes reaching 300–320. They have a good feed-to-egg conversion ratio.

Buff Orpingtons

Their fabulous feathering makes them very cold hardy, although if their feathers get sodden they can chill and die quickly. They tolerate warmer climates but need to have access to shade during the heat of the day.
They make great broodies and good mothers, they will usually accept hatching eggs being placed under them. The buff roosters are said to be fiercely protective of their offspring and will even take a spell on the nest to give mom a break!
They are a top choice for many families because the buff is superb with children, tolerating all sorts of things that kids do.

They are reliable layers of large brown eggs around 200–280 per year. If you are raising them as a meat bird, they are table ready at around 22 weeks. They are often considered the perfect dual purpose chicken.
